MACHACO自身が育みつづけてきた、ジャマイカの偉大なレゲエ・マザー、マーシャ・グリフィスへの格別な思いが、このプロダクション／レーベルへの命名を決定づけました。
2006年に設立されたこのレーベルは日本から世界に向けて発信させられるmachacoプロデュースのレゲエ歌物レーベルです。

リリース第一弾は、ジュディーモワットのカヴァーで知られる「I Shall Sing」　
SPRAGGA BENZをフィーチャーした、心地良く踊れるミディアムナンバーがジャマイカ、キングストンでレコーディングされました。
世界マーケットでの流通をジャマイカのディストリビューターCAPが担当し、「Melody Life Records」の大きな夢への最初の試みとして、国境と世代を超えた多くの人たちに向けて、アナログ７インチシングルとしてリリースされます。

日本初の本格的なレゲエ歌物レーベルを全ての音楽ファンに送ります！！！

Melody Life Records is the first Japanese reggae singers' international label established in 2005. Label founder, machaco took its name from a song of her most respected artist Marcia Griffith. She wishes all the listeners can be positive towards their lives and love through her works.

machaco is one of the most consistently successful female vocalists in the history of reggae music in Japan. Having recorded in every one of the myriad styles from dancehall DJ to melodious songs. Her talent was recognized around early '90s and her first big hit "Ghetto Boy" was released in 1996, a record that can still be a reggae fans' favorite. The follow up singles "Melody Life" "Train to zion" "for the love of you" "Songs of freedom" were also big hits. Her creative melody lines full of reggae flavor and heartwarming lyrics grab the hearts of listeners beyond a boundary of reggae music.
